Struck by a train days before her wedding, author and SU Model Sonya Elliott miraculously survives. Her fiance does not.
Sonya, awakens in the hospital critically injured and without the man she loves to help her through the unbelievable nightmare. Relying on her “never give up” attitude, Sonya fights through painful grief and debilitating injuries and in time returns to the basketball court where she reignites her passion for the game, but more importantly, for life itself. Her own life experiences have brought insight to the grief process.
Sonya now lives in Seattle and works as a freelance writer and model. She coaches youth teams and plays basketball competitively. She is married and has two children.
Sonya’s Give 5 – Get 5 promotion helps raise money for West Seattle’s Hiawatha Community Center Sports Scholarship Program and The Healing Center, a grief support community that provides support to individuals, families and youth who are struggling with loss.
